CD-10 (6") Pre-Waxed Cotton Wick
The CD-10 wick is a popular medium-sized wick for container candles. It comes pre-waxed and tabbed, making setup easy even if you’re new to candle making. Use CD-10 for medium jar candles and tumblers around 3″ in diameter – it’s known to be “ideal for 3-inch containers”, providing a balanced flame that works great for typical medium candles.
- Recommended Jar Diameter: Best suited for containers about 3.0″–3.25″ wide, such as standard medium candle jars (around 8–10 oz size). This size creates an optimal melt pool in candles that are roughly three inches across.
- Maximum Jar Height: The 6″ length is adequate for jars up to ~5″ tall. That covers many medium candle jars – you’ll have enough wick to reach the bottom and still trim it to the recommended 1/4″ before lighting each time.
- Wax Compatibility: CD-10 wicks perform well in all common waxes, whether you’re using a natural soy wax or a paraffin blend. In fact, the CD series is designed for consistency even with higher fragrance loads and viscous natural waxes, so this wick will help your scented soy candles burn evenly with a great scent throw.
- Flame & Burn Performance: Provides a strong, steady flame that forms a full melt pool across your candle without trouble. The reinforced flat braid construction self-trims during burn, meaning you’ll see very little mushrooming and minimal soot. This ensures a cleaner burn and less chance of flickering or smoking in your medium-sized candles.
Usage Instructions: To use, simply secure the CD-10 wick at the center base of your jar (a wick sticker or glue dot will hold it in place). Keep the wick straight and centered, then pour in your melted wax and let it cool. Trim the wick to about 1/4″ before lighting your candle. Always perform a test burn for a new candle recipe – if you’re using a particularly thick wax (like 100% soy) or a very high fragrance load, you might find you need to go up one wick size. Testing will ensure that the CD-10 is giving you the proper melt pool and flame for your specific candle formulation.
